About Me

Mr Tom Holland is a Consultant Gynaecologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust specialising in minimal access surgery for endometriosis, complex benign gynaecology, early pregnancy complications, emergency gynaecology and gynaecological ultrasound.

Mr Holland received preclinical medical training at Cambridge University and clinical training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ qualifying in 2001. He completed his postgraduate training in London working in several teaching hospitals including King’s College, Guy’s and St Thomas’ and University College Hospital. During his training, he undertook a two-year doctoral research fellowship with Professor Davor Jurkovic, investigating the role of gynaecological ultrasound in the management of women with endometriosis. The principle conclusion drawn from this research is that ultrasound can be used to assess the severity of endometriosis and guide treatment decisions. He was awarded a research degree (MD) in 2013, going on to complete his general training and advanced laparoscopic surgery training at University College Hospital with Mr Alfred Cutner and Mr Ertan Saridogan, both past presidents of the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy.

Mr Holland is one of the few gynaecologist in the UK who is highly experienced in both the ultrasound diagnosis and laparoscopic excision of endometriosis. As such he is regularly invited to lecture at national and international conferences on the diagnosis and management of endometriosis and also laparoscopic myomectomy and the treatment of ovarian masses. He is also highly skilled in performing ultrasound diagnosis for early pregnancy complications.

Mr Holland’s current research interests include endometriosis diagnosis and management, early pregnancy problems and minimal access surgery. He publishes on these subjects regularly and is the Lead for Research and Development for Gynaecology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.

Testimonials

{

“Mr Holland is the most caring and sensitive doctor I have ever been treated by. He expertly diagnosed me and carried out surgery, causing an almost immediate reduction in my pain. He has changed my life, and I am no longer restricted by endometriosis. Before I saw him, I could barely walk up the stairs and couldn't work. I am 7 weeks post op and I am walking 5km a day and working full time again. He is an incredible doctor and surgeon and I will never see another gynae again.”
